Transition Techniques

In this course I break down how I create smooth, musical transitions in my own productions. I cover practical techniques using kicks, crashes, filtering, effects, and automation to help sections flow naturally, add energy, and make small changes that have a big impact on the groove.
Course Details
In this chapter I introduce the idea of transitions and explain why small, subtle changes can make a huge difference in your tracks. I walk you through my own project and show how I approach moving between sections using simple but effective techniques you can apply immediately.
Here I focus on using the kick drum as a powerful transition tool. I demonstrate taking kicks out, adding double kicks, adjusting velocity and gain, and using kick fills to create space, tension, and groove without adding extra sounds.
In this chapter I show how to use crashes and reverse crashes to accentuate new sections. I explain where to place them, how to combine them with kick dropouts, and how these simple hits can clearly signal changes in energy and arrangement.
This chapter dives into filtering and automation to smooth out transitions. I demonstrate filtering highs and lows on drums and synths, shaping dynamics in breakdowns, and using subtle automation to maintain energy while guiding the listener into new sections.
In the final chapter I explore effects, one-shots, and chopped sounds to add ear candy and emphasis. I show how to reuse vocals and synths with delay, reverb, and modulation, and how small fills and effects can elevate transitions and bring a track to life.
